Dear Members
TRANSFER OF LAND AND COMMUNITY CENTRE TO MILTON KEYNES HINDU ASSOCIATION COMPLETED
I am delighted on behalf of the Trustees and Executive Committee of Milton Keynes Hindu Association to notify you of the transfer of the land and Community Centre at Ferry Meadow Close, Broughton, Milton Keynes, MK10 9QY to the Hindu Association which was completed on 15 th July 2010.
This is of course a historic event for all Hindus in Milton Keynes and one to which all have aspired to for a considerable period of time.
The culmination of the transfer of the land and Community Centre is testament to the efforts of so many people in this and previous committees and indeed you our members.
My grateful thanks to all those who have contributed.
So what does this mean for the construction of the main Community Centre?
Well, it now means that the active fund raising engaged in by all of you in the past will at last start bearing fruit by enabling the MKHA core team to begin the process of securing external funding and seeking tenders for commencement of the building works. This is a tremendously exciting time for MKHA and indeed for all of you, the end users of the Community Centre. The ball is at last in our Court and the speed at which the Community Centre is built is firmly in our hands.
Now is the time for all of you to join us, not only in fund raising – an activity which must now progress with increasing intensity but also all the other practical issues which will need to be dealt with. This is very much a “hands on” project and one for which we require help from each and every one of you. We urge you therefore not simply to watch from the side lines but actively participate, have your say and be counted for the MKHA Community Centre project which is now fully underway.
Elders Housing
A number of our elders have already moved in to properties adjacent to the Hindu Association Community Centre and are having a marvellous time. They have already attended events at the Community Centre and are thriving in their new homes. For those of you who have still not viewed the elders housing project, we urge you to do so. There are a limited number of rental properties available, but you will have to be speedy to secure them. Also, don’t forget to view the shared ownership properties which are now available for occupation – just in time for a summer move.
Finally I invite you all to join us at our inaugural event at the Community Centre and land on 15 th August 2010 for our Family Fun Day. I look forward to seeing you there.
