Roshan Bhabutta BDS - President and Lead on Hindu Elders Scheme

Roshan was born in Kenya and completed his schooling in Kenya as well as India, culminating in a degree course at the renowned St Andrews University in Scotland.  He is a graduate in Dentistry (BDS) and after a short spell of private practice in Kenya and then in Uganda, he joined the British Army in 1964.  His career moved on rapidly in the Army with placements in countries as diverse as Germany and Hong Kong.  At the time of his retirement in 1995, after a distinguished service to Her Majesty of over 30 years, Roshan had reached the rank of full Colonel.  After retirement Roshan settled down in Milton Keynes and became actively involved with the local community.  He is the President of the MKHA and in this role he strives to work day and night to bring communities together.  He is also the Captain of the Local Golf Team, which has seen measured success since he became their leader.

 

Raj Chauhan - Vice President of MKHA

Raj was born in East Africa and completed his education in Birmingham. Raj has over 26 years of experience in the public sector, predominantly in audit and project management. He has lived and worked in MK for the last 17 years and during this time he has supported MKHA throughout its development, and served on the committee for a period of time as well. He is married and has one son who is currently at Exeter University.

Raj works for the local council as a Performance and Quality Officer. His training & qualification is in internal auditing procedures and processes and project management. He has recently completed NVQ 5 in operational management and is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. Raj is also a trained quality assurance assessor for the European Foundation of Quality Management. Recently he has been appointed to the Board of Gharana Housing Association as a Non-Executive Director.

 

Ashok Tosar B Pharm(Hons), MRParmS – Chair of MKHA Trustee Board

Ashok was born in Uganda and came to the UK with his family.  He completed his formal education in the UK leading to becoming a qualified pharmacist by attaining an honours degree from University of Wales & Institute of Science and Technology in 1979.  He has since become a prominent business leader in Milton Keynes with business interests in Pharmacy and the Post Office.

He is married and has two teenage children.  Ashok has been a long-standing trustee of MKHA and has also been an active mover in the establishment of the first Hindu Community Centre in Milton Keynes.  He is a leading citizen, well loved and trusted by both the Hindu and the wider community.

 

Manjula Koria

Kapil was born in Kenya but has lived most of his life in the UK. He completed his schooling in the North West and thereafter graduated from University College, Cardiff with an Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has gone on to complete his Post Graduate qualifications and rose within the education field to become one of the youngest Inspector of Schools ever appointed by Her Majesty the Queen in the UK.

Kapil is married and has two children. At present, he has started his own Import/Export Company which is based in the city. In the past he has conducted his community service through being a governor to a number of schools, having been appointed by the then Secretary of State for Health as the Chair of the Independent Complaints Panel for the NHS, appointed by the MK Council to sit on the Standards Committee and was until recently the official Head of PR for the Hindu Forum of Britain. At present he sits on the MK Local Strategic Partnerships, is the current Chair of  MK Council of Faiths, a Trustee of the Fremantle Trust and a graduate of the 'Common Purpose' programme in Milton Keynes.

 

Darshna Jagatia LLB (Hons) - Projects (Legal Services)

Darshana has lived in Milton Keynes since 1977, the days when the city was no more than a sleepy town and a dream of the then city planners.  She completed her education in the UK and is now a solicitor by profession and a partner in a local well known practice.  She is also inter-alia a member of the Law society's family law panel and was until recently, the Public Relations Officer of the local Law Society. In addition, Darshana is a member of the Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Oxon Law Society as well as the National Law Society.  Her general interests have led her to become a member of Amnesty International.

 

Darshana showed her initial interest in the Hindu Association in the late '80s, a time during which the Jagatia family was also actively involved in setting the foundations of the now thriving Hindu Association. Darshana went on to become the Chair of the organisation.  Currently she is a trustee as well as being at the forefront of the Community Centre Project Team
